The Inauguration of President Barack Obama - My Experience

I am just coming back from the inauguration. While I am too exhausted from the three-day hustle, I do want to seize the moment.

Great moments.
The concert on Sunday at the Lincoln memorial.
Getting seats at the last minute to the swearing in--dead center!

Colin Powell dinner on Monday night--and hearing how he cried with his wife Alma when Barack won that wonderful glorious night in November.

Watching the helicopter take Mr. Bush away to the cheers of the crowd.

Michelle walking in carrying Lincoln’s bible--watching those 2 little girls walk in--to watch their father become president--and not being jeered at --as they would have been--if they were 2 of the first children to attend an integrated school--which many of my generation remember with shame-- and in the scheme of things--not too long ago.

To see the faces of black American families sitting around me savoring a dream--that was so hard to dream of and to watch Barack silently wait for Judge Roberts to correct himself in swearing him in.

I feel and hope this is a man on the brink of greatness--one we must all help him achieve for our own survival. But we must remember, this is just a man--and any of you who have a special cause--must fight to keep that cause front and center with his admin.

And, then to watch this beautiful--and I mean beautiful--couple stand together, walk together, dance together--it is very hard not to want to help--to make them soar together.
