The amazing true story of Catalina De Erauso. Born in 17th Century Spain, Catalina threw off her nun's veil, at age 14, and decided to dress as a man. Against the odds, this bold young girl defied her society's gender roles, yet remained committed to its service as a participant in the conquest of the Americas.
Catalina identified as Francisco de Loyola, and was engaged to several young ladies in his life. In this time when we are fighting to retain our right to marry the one we love, Macha Theatre is dedicating the closing night of 'The Adventures of the Lieutenant Nun' to the Human Rights Campaign and the Equality For All coalition. A portion of the proceeds will be donated by the Macha Theatre to benefit No on Prop. 8.
Ways you can get involved include:
- Sign up for a volunteer shift to have conversations with voters
- If you are planning to marry, register so friends and loved ones can donate as a gift
- Obtain endorsements by individuals and organizations to fight for marriage equality.
- Sign the Million for Marriage petition
- Donate to the HRC California Marriage PAC to help fund the effort
- Talk to your straight friends and colleagues about love, fairness and equality; and challenge them to Vow to Vote No on Proposition 8!'
