Location:
East West Lounge, 8851 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069

Join HRC for an evening of Talkin Q'Politics, our popular monthly series hosted by the Los Angeles Political Committee.

The speaker for January is Dave Codell, an attorney who was part of the team who wrote the brief to the California Supreme Court, resulting in the 15 May 2008 decision ruling that denying gay and lesbian couples the right to marry is unconstitutional.

Mr. Codell is a sole practitioner in Los Angeles whose law practice focuses on constitutional litigation, intellectual property litigation and advising, and entertainment law.  As co-counsel with the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR), Lambda Legal, and the ACLU, Mr. Codell provided pro bono representation to Equality California and numerous same-sex couples in the Marriage Cases, in which the California Supreme Court recently ruled that the California Constitution requires California to permit gay and lesbian couples to marry.  Mr. Codell received his undergraduate and law degrees from Harvard and served as a law clerk for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg of the Supreme Court of the United States.

Speaker presentation begins at 7:30pm.
